Welcome to Creatures of Heart Sanctuary, Inc.
COHS, Inc. is the place when there are no options left...A Non-Profit Public Charity Dedicated to Animal Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Placement

 Spring is in the Air!

'Tis the season for blooms and bairn-please spay and neuter your pets!!!  The euthanasia rate for dogs and cats is devastating--let's not add to it.  There are so many homeless animals waiting behind bars for just one more chance at life and a forever home.  COHS is liaising with Sacramento City and County Shelters, Sacramento SPCA, as well as many other counties and rescue organizations from here to Canada.  With the economic strain, there are myriad pets being surrendered or abandonned.

Please consider adopting a rescue critter.

Love doesn't get any better than that!

Spring 2012 Wish List:

1)  We are in need of grant-writing talent.  Due to the straining economy, our budget is being sorely stressed and we are having to down-size.  The hay market has skyrocketed--we are struggling to keep up with our feed requirements.  Thanks to the ASPCA in providing an opportunity for emergency relief--they have generously contributed to our hay fund!! http://www.aspca.org/about-us/legal-information/link-to-us.html

2)  We are ongoingly in need of able-bodied volunteers to assist Woody in building kennel structures for our larger dogs and to lay down concrete flooring/drains for them and for the barn.  We are still looking to build the expanded chicken run and our outdoor aviary.  Donations of time or materials would be appreciated in any increments.  We especially need concrete, telephone poles and railroad ties and funding (doesn't everyone?)  If you would like to help, contact Janice at (530) 306-4181.

3)  We are in need of a workable tractor to clear the pastures and to help regrade/refurbish the barn and weatherproof the surrounding enclosures.

Reminder:  Horse rescue from the Premarin ranches in Canada still need your help.  There are a number of draft and percheron mares that need to be placed--their time was extended from November.  Please go to www.theanimalifarm.com. Their next stop is the meat auction.
