Dear Creatures of Heart Sanctuary Inc.,
We wanted to write to you about our recent adoption of Franklin, formerly known as Tranji. Franklin was in your shelter for more than two years waiting for his turn for a family. After seeing his photo on petfinder.com we fell in love with him instantly. You described him as a work in progress that needed a supportive family who didn’t mind his quirks. In just a short week he has really come into his own. He has a sweet temperament, a joy in his eyes, and a happy tail. He has filled a gap in our lives that we are thankful to you for everyday. Our first “rescue” Harry had passed and we really wanted to adopt in his honor…in his name. We think that Harry’s life and all the joy that he brought to us gave Franklin’s life a chance. He opened our hearts to the plight of the unwanted mutt and how with a little work and encouragement they could become life’s biggest source of happiness. It is in his memory that we looked for an older dog that may not have the opportunity that a puppy or pure breed might. And boy are we happy that we did. He has adjusted amazingly well to the working of our family, has brought more laughter and joy than we could have ever asked for, or expected. I know that it will take time for him to trust that we are never going to let him go, but having the pleasure to watch him develop makes the work easy.
Rescuing animals can be heartbreaking and the biggest gift, all in one. To think of our little Franklin living for years without a family to love and support him makes me weep. We will always have dogs and from now on they will all be rescues who may not have had a chance elsewhere. Even the broken animals with enough love can become the best loyal friend that anyone could ask for.
Thank you for your work! Thank you!
